COUNCIL OFFICES BUILDING REPAINT

The City of Edinburgh Council offices in Queensferry are located in the former Viewforth Hotel building which stands on the north side of the High Street opposite East Terrace. The building has served many purposes in its life, and has been visited by both King Olaf of Norway, and our present Queen and Prince Philip. The City Council now uses the premises to house the Registry Office, the Queensferry Museum, and the Local Housing Office. For some years the appearance of the building has been very poor, with paintwork flaking and stonework crumbling. The Community Council spent some two years pressing the City Council to improve the appearance of the property, and was finally successful when the building was repainted outside. There was also work done within the building to improve the facilities.
