DOING THE BEST FOR SCOTLAND AS A WHOLE

I attach a copy of a paper prepared by the Queensferry & District Community Council on the proposed new crossing of the Forth and its approach roads. From the start, I must emphasise that this is NOT a local matter, and it is not considered from a local perspective, but from that of Scotland as a whole.

Put plainly, we believe that the existing proposals will be inadequate and adversely impact upon the economies of those regions of Scotland north of the Forth. We believe that costly major works will be necessary in the future, and that these extra costs can be avoided by the measures which we propose.

It is vital that MSPs consider these recommendations when the legislation necessary to authorise construction of the new crossing and the approach roads comes before the Scottish Parliament.

Thank you for taking the time to read the paper, I hope it helps you to better understand the issues about which we feel so strongly.

Yours Sincerely

Tom Martin
