Transport Strategy

It is the aim of Queensferry & District Community Council (QDCC) to support the local community in its need for high quality transportation provision for access to essential services, jobs, education and other communities in the surrounding area.

Much of QDCC’s transport-related work takes place “behind the scenes”, with a dedicated Transport Committee handling the day-to-day issues, such as parking, double yellow lines, road and pavement maintenance and bus service reliability.   Where a problem or issue is identified, this is passed to the Transport Committee for investigation.  If you have a transport or access related issue, or problem with safe access to essential services, QDCC would like to know.

In addition, QDCC plays an active role in developing and supporting transport initiatives which will benefit the local community.   Some of the most recent initiatives have included:

  • Working with First to bring about an increased frequency, new buses and an improved quality of service on the 43 bus route.

  • Securing reduced fares and extra services on the Stagecoach bus network between the Forth Road Bridge Tolls and Edinburgh City Centre, Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh Park & the airport.  Fares to the airport reduced from £4.50 single/return to £2.30 single/£3.10 return, and city centre fares lowered from £2.35 single/£4.50 return to £1.70 single/£3.00 return.  A special off-peak fare of £1.50 single/£2.50 return was also introduced following representations from the Community Council.

  • Persuading City of Edinburgh Council to extend the operating hours of the bus priority measures between Dalmeny and Barnton, with the A90 Queue Management System now operating during evenings and weekends.  Previously the system operating only during the weekday morning peak period.

  • A comprehensive survey of the local community on the proposals for a new crossing of the Forth at Queensferry.
