QUEENSFERRY and DISTRICT COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Who we are and what we do

Community Councils are established under Section 53 of the Local Government  (Scotland) Act 1973. A Community Council is required 'to express to the Local authorities and to public authorities the views of the community which it represents'. Fifteen local people, elected and co-opted, presently form the Queensferry and District Community Council, and will serve until May 2009. Although the Community Council has an overall remit, members spread the load by each monitoring specific services provided by City of Edinburgh Council and other providers (ie Police Scottish Water etc) The main ones are transport, planning, environment, housing, health, education and recreation, tourism, and any other relevant matters relating to Dalmeny and Queensferry. Each has a convenor, and when required, sub-committees form to investigate and bring to full council single issues, thus speeding the progress of discussion and decision making.
Should you wish to raise anything of local concern in Dalmeny or Queensferry contact the Community Council - see 'Contact Us' link. We would appreciate any contact at least one week prior to our monthly meeting, or should you prefer to put the matter to us directly you can attend the meeting. Our monthly meetings are open to everyone in the community, and you are welcome to come and see the work of the Community Council at first hand.
We meet in the Burgh Chambers High Street Queensferry on the fourth Monday of each month, at 7.30pm (see Diary for details)

Please use the 'Contact Us' link for e-mail.
